Zain Jordan Relaunches Basma+ Line for Deaf Customers with Enhanced Benefits
al-wakkai news - As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting and empowering people with disabilities through its diverse programs and initiatives, Zain Jordan has announced the relaunch of its Basma+ line for Deaf customers, now with enhanced benefits and features designed to better meet their communication needs and provide a more accessible and seamless telecommunications experience.
The relaunch of Basma+ reflects Zain’s continued efforts to advance digital inclusion and ensure that people with disabilities have access to the latest communication technologies in ways that respond to their needs. Through its inclusive solutions and initiatives, Zain continues to contribute to enhancing quality of life, expanding access to digital services and fostering greater participation and inclusion within society.
The revamped Basma+ line offers a wide range of benefits tailored specifically to the needs of Deaf customers, with a focus on video calls and SMS as key communication channels. The line provides 30 GB of internet data, along with 3,000 minutes of video calls, enabling customers to communicate more easily and effectively in their daily lives and professional interactions.
The package also includes 20,000 minutes to Zain numbers, 3,000 minutes to other local networks, and 3,000 SMS messages, giving customers greater flexibility and a variety of communication options. In addition, customers who maintain their monthly subscription can benefit from cumulative internet data, allowing unused data to carry over and ensuring continued access to the service.
Basma+ line is available for a monthly fee of JD 7 through a Mix 3.5 recharge, while new subscribers can benefit from a 50% discount on the monthly subscription fee for the first three months.
In line with its commitment to providing accessible customer services, Zain also offers its Deaf customers access to a dedicated customer service center staffed by employees proficient in sign language. Customers can contact the center through Zain Jo application every day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., where they can receive direct assistance, address their inquiries and access support through video calls.
Customers wishing to subscribe to the Basma+ line can visit any Zain showroom across the Kingdom and present their identification card issued by the Deaf centers to obtain the line and benefit from its services.
Zain Jordan has a longstanding commitment to supporting the Deaf community. In 2015, the company became the first telecommunications operator in Jordan to launch a dedicated line for Deaf customers, introducing the first service of its kind in the Kingdom.
In 2018, Zain Jordan received an honorary award from the Essl Foundation at the United Nations Office in Vienna, Austria, in recognition of its efforts to develop an innovative ecosystem tailored to the needs of Deaf people in the local community. Zain Jordan was selected from among 371 qualified nominees representing 98 countries, in recognition of its contribution to advancing education, information and communications technology, and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Zain’s support for the Deaf community dates back even further. In 2014, the company became the first telecommunications operator to support the free emergency service for Deaf people, launched through a partnership between Zain, the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the Command-and-Control Centre at the Public Security Directorate. The initiative went on to receive first place in the Zero Project on Inclusive Education ICT program.
Building on this commitment, Zain continued to support accessible emergency communications for Deaf people through its support of the 114 emergency-call application, launched by the Public Security Directorate in 2023 to enable Deaf users to access emergency services through their smartphones.
Through the relaunch of Basma+ and its continued support for accessible communication and emergency services, Zain Jordan reaffirms its commitment to creating a more inclusive digital environment and ensuring that technology serves as an enabler of communication, participation and equal opportunity for all members of society.
