Planting More Than 18,800 Trees: Zain Jordan Strengthens Its Role in Environmental Protection and Supports 58 Farms

Through its efforts to expand green spaces across the Kingdom, preserve soil, promote the efficient use of water resources, and support farmers, Zain contributes to protecting nature and its resources while enabling local communities to sustain agricultural production.
At the forefront of these efforts is afforestation. To date, and in cooperation with various public and private sector entities, Zain Jordan has contributed to planting more than 18,800 trees across different regions of the Kingdom, including both forest and fruit-bearing trees. These efforts contribute to improving air quality, reducing soil degradation, enhancing biodiversity, supporting local ecosystems, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and promoting the sustainable management of natural resources.
Among Zain Jordan’s most prominent and ongoing afforestation initiatives is Zain Forest, located in Thughret Asfour in Jerash Governorate. The forest represents a practical example of how the private sector can contribute to environmental causes and transform corporate social responsibility into sustainable, on-the-ground initiatives with tangible impact. The initiative includes approximately 8,500 forest trees, contributing to the expansion of green spaces, enhancing plant diversity, and improving the natural landscape in Jordan. It also reflects Zain’s commitment to supporting national efforts to protect the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change.
This initiative forms part of Zain’s integrated approach to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Zain’s efforts extend beyond planting trees to include their ongoing monitoring and care, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of these projects and their continued environmental impact. Zain also supports initiatives aimed at protecting plant life and natural resources, reflecting its focus on developing long-term environmental projects.
Alongside Zain Forest, Zain has extended its efforts to support farmers whose lands were affected by fires. Zain contributed to the rehabilitation of damaged agricultural land, helping restore its productivity and enabling farmers to resume their agricultural activities and livelihoods. These efforts also aim to strengthen farmers’ ability to survive future environmental and climate-related challenges, support more sustainable livelihoods, and enhance the resilience of local agricultural communities. In this regard, Zain has supported 58 farmers, helping them return to agricultural production and establish more sustainable sources of income that contribute to improving their livelihoods and their families.
As part of its support for sustainable agriculture, Zain has also implemented drip irrigation systems across four farms in Al-Ghor Al-Safi, introducing a solution that promotes more efficient water use and reduces water loss. This initiative supports farmers in conserving one of the Kingdom’s most vital natural resources while contributing to the long-term sustainability of agricultural production.
Zain Jordan continues to support environmental protection and biodiversity through its partnership with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) to rehabilitate the forests of Al Yarmouk Nature Reserve and promote the sustainability of (Al-Malloul) Jordan’s national tree. As part of this partnership, an area within the reserve has been designated as a (Zain) area dedicated to rehabilitating plants and planting trees. Zain also organizes regular employee volunteering campaigns to support tree planting and maintenance activities, contributing to the protection and long-term sustainability of the Kingdom’s forests.
Through these diverse initiatives, Zain Jordan seeks to contribute to building a more sustainable ecosystem and to serve as a role model for transforming environmental responsibility into practical projects with tangible positive impact.
